The rest day did some good. Looking at the weather forecast, early afternoon today was going to be great for running compared to tomorrow morning. But today should have really been a PT exercise day. Solution? Do both. I did a long slow exercise session, stretched a bit, then headed out for a run.
PT exercises went well. I continue to feel a little bit stronger with each session. My right hip was a little sore afterward, but I was able to stretch out the soreness. I ran/walked by heart rate with a target zone of 125-140 BPM. This time, however, during the running segments I focused on running form: push-off – kick back – recoil – land with foot under hips. This naturally increased my stride, speed, and heart rate. My running segments were short, but I was running and not just jogging. I ran for just over an hour at an 11:00 average pace. During running segments, I was running under 9:00 pace.
Afterwards I was beat. My legs were sore and stiff, and I was exhausted. I felt like I had run a half-marathon. But the discomfort was distributed and not localized to my right hip. Interested to see how things feel tomorrow morning.
