A friend texted me late yesterday and invited me to join him for a Saturday morning run. I had been thinking about throwing caution to the wind and just going out for a run anyway.  He assured me we could go slow. So, I joined him this morning for a 6-mile run.  The pace was easy and relaxed. After 3 miles I started to feel it in my legs.  We walked for a minute or so and got back to our relaxed pace.  I made it to 6 miles without too much trouble.

We met up with a running group at a local coffee shop, where we sat and chatted for about 90 minutes.  By the time I got up to leave, my legs and hips were very stiff.  The first few steps were very difficult.  The ½ mile walk home was okay, a few acute aches in my right hip/quad area.  I performed a lot of stretching when I got home, and the rest of the day was okay, but not great.  My right hip was sore and stiff with movement, whereas my left hip had no discomfort.  I was hoping to survive the easy 6-mile run with much less discomfort.  I may have been a bit optimistic.  I need to think twice before I throw caution to the wind.
