I am not smarter than the average bear.  I’ve been complaining about continued aches and soreness in my hip, but today I was lured outside by bright sunshine and not too cold temperatures.  The threat of snow and rain on Monday also played a part in my decision making.  So, I headed to a local county park where there is a 1.7 mile loop on a paved road with hardly any vehicles.

The plan was to run/walk two loops, 2-minute run, 1-minute walk.  That would be about 35-40 minutes.  After the second loop, I thought it would be a good idea to stretch it a bit today and do one more loop.  So, I completed 5.4 miles in just over an hour.  The longest time and distance I have covered in several months.

My hip was sore the rest of the day. I did some focused stretching and a few strength exercises, but I could feel that I perhaps went too far today. However, I did cover 5+ miles.  My dumber-than- the-average-bear brain is rationalizing that the discomfort was worth 5+ miles.  Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
